Knauf will be head writer on the 10-part series which has been created by Cole Haddon. ‘Downton Abbey's’ production house Carnival Films & Television will produce for Sky’s Living TV and NBC. Flame Ventures, Playground Entertainment, Universal TV and NBCU are all on board to co-produce. Rhys Meyers will play the title role of Bram Stoker’s Dracula, set in 1890s London where he poses as an American businessman pretending to bring modern science to the English town. His real aim however is to extract revenge on those responsible for turning him into a vampire. The show has been described as ‘Dangerous Liaisons’ meets ‘The Tudors’ Knauf created the multi Emmy-winning HBO series ‘Carnivàle’, a series set in 1930s America during the Dust Bowl era of the Great Depression. It followed the lives of two initially unlinked men, one a carnival worker, the other a Methodist preacher, who discovered they had supernatural healing and visionary powers.
